Crooks & Castles x Vans Pack
We gave you a look at the Crooks & Castles x Vans Moda Hi last month. Today, we have a look at another part of the Crooks & Castle x Vans Pack.
These Crooks & Castles designed Vans will represent the west as a part of an East vs. West Pack, which will also include the Acapulco Gold designed Vans. The pack features premium materials, including epi leather, and the “Crooks & Castles For Vans” labeling. Look for these to hit retailers in early 2010.

New Balance Fall 2009 Preview
During what most of would consider the greatest era of running sneakers, the late 80’s to early 90s’, New Balance carved itself a niche in the hearts of sneakerheads. This Fall will see the return of many of the company’s most popular silhouettes in a number of colorways.
Some of our personal favorites, the 850 and 1500 silhouettes, have been revamped in colorways that will definitely make the office wish list. There are a couple things to point out about what makes the New Balance Fall 2009 Collection appealing. First, colorways are a creative mix, yet not over the top. Secondly, New Balance uses a nice mix of materials, without traveling to some 4th world country to find the skin of some rare nocturnal reptile.

Air Jordan 1 High Metallic Silver
As previously stated, there is no end in sight to the number of Air Jordan 1 colorways. The next Air Jordan 1 High makeup is reminiscent of the 2001 retro with some slight variations. The Metallic Silver foil-like finish is applied to the Swoosh, heel area, and the toebox.
With this many Jordan 1’s we can only wonder if there will be many people interested in these by the time they drop next spring. What do you think?

Nike Sportswear Air Presto Navy Blue/Red-White
The infamous Nike Air Presto is ideal for the summer season to say the least. In the spring, Nike released a plethora of tonal Air Presto colorways; however, Nike has applied a patriotic touch to its latest Air Presto which is now available at Mita.
It features a predominately navy blue base combined with a red tongue and a red mesh inner lining. The two-toned outsole also features the same color scheme with the frontal section encompassing red and the heel appearing in navy blue. Although the LIVESTRONG x Nike Stages Collection has been receiving a vast amount of attention lately, Nike also has upcoming sneaker packs that cater to all styles. Going against the grain of the vivid, brightly-colored sneakers that are always seen in the summer, Nike has now just released the subtle “Premium Essentials” Pack.

Etnies Perro
Etnies Footwear continues to release simple colorways on basic silhouettes such as the baby blue Sal 23 that unleashed in mid-May. Now, Etnies has a new colorway of the Perro model available on its online store.
It possesses a 100% grey suede upper mixed with a white vulcanized rubber sole. Minimal blue details appear on the heel panel, the line design at the top of the sole and the Etnies tag logos on the tongue and side panels. MX Sole Now Available for Bespoke Designs
Last month, we spotlighted a two-part mini-series on Bespoke ingredients including soles and elephant print. These two features left most of you striving and itching to make your way to 21 Mercer St. in an attempt to design your own one of one. Now, as an added choice when making your own Air Force 1, the Bespoke program gives you the option to add an MX sole.
The creator is now able to choose one of the 19 different MX soles to finish up his/her one-of-a-kind design. Obviously, the highly-coveted MX sole gives the shoe an icy look by wrapping the primary color in a transparent shell. Will Bespoke ever run out of new ideas for nice creations? Vans Vault Del Barco Low LX Black
Within the first quarter of the year, we showed you the the Vans Vault Del Barco Fall lineup in which many of you stated that it was a very clean, subtle look. In addition, we showed you two more colorways set to appear during the holiday season; however, we have now spotted a Vans Del Barco Low LX that is now available at Vans Vault’s online store for $100.
This particular Del Barco Low LX features a combination of black premium leather and tweed material on the upper. It also possesses a white vulcanized rubber sole with a black toe cap. Other features include silver laceholders and Vans logo tags on the side panel (red) and tongue (beige). This sneaker will compliment a nice, stylish look to say the least. Nike Dunk High Black/Hot Red
To say that a vast amount of people are impatiently awaiting the arrival of the Alife Rivington Club x Nike Dunk Hi tomorrow is an understatement. However, during this anxious moment, other Dunks may sneak past us such as this newly-designed Dunk High Black/Hot Red.
Although the all-black base is nothing new and innovative, its hot red midsole brings a great amount of attention to this shoe. The Nike tag logo (tongue) also appears in hot red as a nice co-existing feature. Yet, one of the more interesting details on this shoe is the patent leather, splatter-like design that smothers the heel panel.

CLUCT x Mita x Reebok Ex-O-Fit
The Ex-O-Fit model has been a canvas for collaborations for Reebok such as the Atmos x Reebok Ex-O-Fit Strap “Nightmare”, the Reebok Ex-O-Fit Hi Strap “Basquiat Pack” and the Atmos x Reebok Ex-O-Fit Hi Strap “Polka Dots”. In addition, Reebok has hooked up with Mita and CLUCT to design yet another Ex-O-Fit.
The latest Ex-O-Fit seems to contain less amount of detail than the aforementioned collaborations. It owns a predominately black base with one yellow accents in the form of the strip design on the side panel. Asics Gel Lyte III Grey/Black/Turquoise-Purple
Unless you having been living under a rock (regarding the visitation of our website), you have seen detailed images of our upcoming collaboration design with DavidZ on the Gel Lyte III. We stated that the shoe will be available in-store and online during the month of October, however, while we continue to impatiently wait for the release, we have spotted another fresh Asics Gel Lyte III colorway that is available at Sneaker Politics.
This particular Gel Lyte III owns a very vibrant color scheme to say the least. The base is colored mostly in grey and black, while various turquoise details appear throughout the heel and side panels. The Asics logo is done up in purple to give this shoe a nice contrasting look. To finish it off, this Gel Lyte III’s white midsole possesses a grey speckle-like design. Nike Zoom Kobe IV NBA Championship/Gold Medal
The Zoom Kobe IV has been a staple of Nike and Kobe’s arsenal for some time now. With the original colorways, the limited editions and the new team options, one might not think there’d be any more colors to use or achievements to highlight. Well, it looks like that would be a poor assumption to make, as pics have surfaced recently of this Kobe IV Championship/Gold Medal sneaker.
This model still uses the familiar Flywire technology in white and gold, laid next to a white leather toe and heel. Two areas pay tribute to Kobe’s “Black Mamba” nickname, seen in the snake logo on the insides and snakeskin wrapping around the heel. The snakeskin is gold on the outsides, fading into red on the insides of each shoe. On the heel, where we’re accustomed to seeing Kobe’s number “24,” this model breaks from form, partly, as one features his Olympic number (10). The two-number trick is used on the insoles, too. Finally, the outsoles are blue, keeping with the red, white and blue (and gold) theme we’ve seen on Olympic shoes before.
It’s unlikely that these will ever make it to production, especially a year after the U.S. captured gold and months after Kobe got his fourth ring, but these are still an innovative and fitting tribute.

After the Supra TK Society Tour ran its course at the very beginning of the summer, many of you have expressed your extreme anticipation for new colorways of the TK Society. Converse Chuck Taylor Hi x Metallica
Just a while back here at BayAreaKicks.com we featured the AC/DC x Converse for their all-star roster of rock bands limited edition sneakers. And released this month was their team up with the biggest heavy metal of all time, Metallica. They have also come up with 2 designs like the AC/DC. Metallica versions are more branded with the band’s logo. And first up is the black Chuck Taylor with the bands name on the upper heel and a simple all white version which features an illustration on the side, a twisted voodoo doll skull illustration which were extended all the way down the bottom of the midsole.

Bathing Ape Ghostbusters
Nobody can ever forget the famous cartoon series Ghostbusters! Lazything Air Force 1 Jailbreaker Custom for DJ Clark Kent
Sneaker customizer,?AKALAZY, has customized a special Nike Air Force 1 for DJ Clark Kent.?This custom by Lazy use an Air Force 1 Low as a base for his custom and the result is a gorgeous all over denim AF1 that presumably only DJ Clark Kent will own. The entire upper is covered in denim that is stained and a bit distressed, the Swoosh uses another peice of denim, and the stitching used on the shoe comes in a bright Yellow color.

Air Jordan XX1/XXI
The design for the Air Jordan 21 model was inspired by the world's finest sport touring vehicles. The shoe features lower-foot air grilles, double-overlasted Phylon midsole, a carbon fiber shank plate and a seamless diamond-quilted booty. It also has an evolutionary tunable I.P.S. suspension system that lets the wearer choose between Zoom and Encapsulated air.

Air Jordan XX2/XXII
The Air Jordan 22 model, designed by Dwayne Edwards, was released on March 24, 2007. Its original retail price was $175 but has declined. The aggressive and sharp design was inspired by the F-22 Raptor fighter jet. Some technical features of the shoe include an updated visible, interchangeable independent podular system, a new metallic mesh for ventilation, the Air Jordan camouflage pattern printed in reflective 3M, and an updated traction system, based on an army general's stripes.
There were two special editions of the Air Jordan 22 model released. The first edition was released for Jordan's birthday on February 17. This edition featured an authentic Jordan Brand basketball leather. The second edition was the Omega model, part of the Alpha-Omega package. This model featured a laser-etched image of Jordan after he won his sixth NBA championship in 1998.
An entirely new line of Air Jordan XX2/XXII shoes called the player editions or "PE" were released with these shoes worn by NBA players from the Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Dallas Mavericks. This Air Jordan model featured a new strap around the heel and ankle.

After Kennedy's Death: Silence from the Pope
There was a poignant footnote to President Obama's historic July 10 meeting with Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Behind closed doors in the papal library, Obama handed Benedict a letter that Senator Edward Kennedy had asked him to personally deliver to the pontiff. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs later told reporters that nobody - not even the President - knew the contents of the sealed missive. Obama himself asked Benedict to pray for Kennedy, and called the ailing Senator afterward to fill him in on his encounter with the 82-year-old Pope.
The letter, most likely already re-sealed and tucked away in the Vatican archives, was probably just a dying Catholic's request for a papal blessing. In the eyes of the traditionalist wing of the Church, however, Kennedy should have been asking the Pope for forgiveness. The Vatican's official newspaper L'Osservatore Romano reported Kennedy's death, praising his work on civil rights and fighting poverty, but noted that his record was marred by his stance on abortion. As of yet, unlike some other world leaders, Pope Benedict has not commented or issued an official communique in response to Kennedy's death. One veteran official at the Vatican, of U.S. nationality, expressed the view of many conservatives about the Kennedy clan's rapport with the Catholic Church: "Why would he even write a letter to the Pope? The Kennedys have always been defiantly in opposition to the Roman Catholic magisterium." Magisterium is the formal expression for the authority of Church teaching. Since Kennedy's death on Aug. 25, commentators have been poring over the Liberal Lion's many legislative achievements and the details of his biography. But it is also worth remembering that for four decades Ted Kennedy remained the nation's most prominent Roman Catholic politician, and brother of America's first and only Catholic President. Ted Kennedy received his first communion directly from Pope Pius XII, and his marriage in 1958 was performed by Cardinal Francis Spellman, the influential Archbishop of New York. His mother, Rose Kennedy, once reportedly said that she'd dreamed that her youngest son Teddy would become a priest rather than a politician, destined to ultimately rise to bishop status. Edward Kennedy, it can be said, was not cut out for the priestly life. His first marriage to former model Virginia Joan Bennett, ended in divorce in 1982, with the marriage annulled by the Roman Rota more than a decade later. And there are the infamous episodes in his life that showed a man not quite in control of his demons. But ultimately, beyond his personal travails, Kennedy's relationship with the Church hierarchy was destined for conflict because of politics. The Senator became both the face and engine of the liberal wing of the Democratic party that has long led the battle for abortion rights, stem cell research and gay marriage, all of which Catholic doctrine strictly forbids.
"He is a complicated figure," says Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit priest and the culture editor of the Catholic magazine America. "Catholics on the right are critical because of his stance on abortion. Catholics on the left celebrate his achievements on immigration, fighting poverty and other legislation that is a virtual mirror of the Church's social teaching." Back at headquarters, however, there is little room for nuance. "Here in Rome Ted Kennedy is nobody. He's a legend with his own constituency," says the Vatican official. "If he had influence in the past it was only with the Archdiocese of Boston and that eventually disappeared too." Some say the final sunset on the Kennedy name within Catholic halls of power was the Vatican's decision in 2007 to overturn the annulment of the first marriage of former U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy, the eldest son of Robert Kennedy. The successful appeal by Joe Kennedy's ex-wife Sheila Rauch, an Episcopalian, was another blow for the Kennedy image in Catholic circles.
During Benedict's 2008 trip to the U.S., there was some heated debate (with conflicting photographs and eyewitness accounts) about whether or not Kennedy took Holy Communion at the papal mass at Nationals Stadium in Washington, with conservatives insisting that the Pope says the rite should be denied to pro-choice politicians. With this in mind, Church observers are keen to see if Boston's Archbishop Cardinal Sean O'Malley will preside over Kennedy's funeral.
In what may mark the final flicker of Kennedy influence in American Catholicism, reports circulated last spring that Obama was considering JFK's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, as the possible next U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican. That was not to be. Indeed in the wake of Uncle Ted's death came word Thursday that Obama's final choice had arrived in Rome to take up the diplomatic post at the Holy See. His name is Miguel Diaz, a little-known Cuban-born professor of theology firmly on the record as pro-life.
